Accountant / Senior Accountant

Newly created accounting role at a growing transportation company, reporting to the Controller. Month-end close, reconciliations, fixed assets, intercompany and government remittances — no AP/AR ownership. Open at either Accountant or Senior Accountant level depending on experience. Fully onsite in Lachine.

A newly created position on a growing finance team at a transportation company, reporting directly to the Controller. The role can be filled at either Accountant or Senior Accountant level depending on your experience and ability to work independently.

The finance function today runs VP of Finance, Controller, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and an Accounting Technician. This role is being added so the Controller can delegate more of the work they currently handle personally — you would work closely with the Accounting Technician, who is earlier in their career.

Schedule & location

Monday to Friday, fully onsite at Lachine, QC. Not a hybrid role, though there's reasonable flexibility for the occasional exception.

What you'll be doing

- Month-end close, including preparing the groundwork the Controller currently owns - Accruals, amortization and depreciation - General ledger reconciliations - Fixed assets and intercompany accounting - Government remittances - Audit preparation and financial reporting support

You would not own Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable, beyond occasional support if needed.

What we're looking for

- Solid accounting fundamentals across month-end, reconciliations and reporting - Comfortable working onsite as part of a small, collaborative finance team - You don't need to arrive fully independent — the Controller is looking for someone who wants to learn, is willing to ask questions, and grows into more responsibility over time

Compensation

- $65,000 - $75,000 CAD at the Accountant level - $75,000 - $85,000 CAD at the Senior Accountant level

What you'll be doing

• Prepare and support month-end close
• Handle accruals, amortization and depreciation
• Complete general ledger reconciliations
• Maintain fixed assets and intercompany accounting
• Prepare government remittances
• Support audit preparation and financial reporting
